Red Raiders Finish Third At NYU Invitational, Beegle Takes Eighth Place

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Shippensburg University men’s cross country team recorded a strong performance at the 2007 New York University Invitational on Saturday afternoon, finishing in third place with a total of 122 points. The host school, NYU won the event while Johns Hopkins took second place.
Shippensburg finished with the second-best average time for its top seven runners, running the 5-mile course in an average time of 27:13.
Freshman Bryan Beegle (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) led
the Red Raider runners with an eighth place finish, clocking in at 26:29. Sophomore Jeremy
Brady (Heidelberg AFB/Heidelberg American) finished in tenth
place with a time of 26:38.
Junior Stephen Thompson (Northumberland/Shikellamy) posted
another strong effort, finishing in 13th place after completing the
course in 26:48.
Freshmen Philip Diven (Sykesville, Md./South Carroll), Sean
Stetler (Warrington/Central Bucks South) and Jake
Sitler (Wrightsville/York
Catholic) all finished within a three-second span, earning
45th, 46th and
48th place respectively.
Freshman Ethan Rissell (Falls Church, Va/J.E.B. Stuart) rounded
out the top seven for Shippensburg with a time of 28:27.
The Red Raiders will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Spiked
Shoe Invitational held at Penn State University. The meet begins at 10:30
AM.
