March 11, 2005
BOSTON, Mass. - Senior Tunisia Lacy (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) and sophomore Richard Hansloven (Morrisdale, Pa./West Branch) each completed the first day of competition at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
Lacy finished 11th in the women's long jump with a mark of 18-feet, 3-inches, missing her season-best mark of 18-feet, 4 1/4-inches which she set on January 28 at the Bison Open. She also competed in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles, finishing fourth in her heat with a time of 9.05 seconds, a mark that was 14th-best overall, but not enough to qualify her for Saturday's finals.
Hansloven, appearing in his first NCAA Indoor Championship, just missed qualifying for the finals in the mile run after he posted a time of 4:14.94. T. Jay Sanderson of Southwest Baptist University earned the final qualifying spot with a time of 4:14.66, a mere 0.28 seconds ahead of Hansloven.
At the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship on February 27, Hansloven set a new meet record in the mile with a time of 4:12.12.
Lacy will compete in the triple jump on Saturday afternoon at approximately 3:15 p.m. while Hansloven will participate in the men's 5,000-meter run around 5:04 p.m.
