Red Raider Track Finishes Second at DuCharme Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Shippensburg University men's track and field team captured second-place at the 10th Annual DuCharme Invitational on Friday night at nearby Dickinson College. The Red Raiders totaled 131 points, 31.5 behind Dickinson in first and ahead of McDaniel College who placed third.

The Red Raiders totaled 15 top-three finishes, including seven first-place winners. In both the long jump and the weight throw, Shippensburg captured first through third-place while taking the top nine spots in the weight throw. Freshman Sean Cohick (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) took first in the long jump with a mark of 21-feet, 7 1/2-inches while sophomores James Dubinski (Collegeville, Pa./St. Pius X) and Maurice Barbour (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) came in second and third, respectively.

Barbour came in first in the triple jump with a leap of 44-feet, 9-inches, almost two feet ahead of Michael Yoder of Eastern Mennonite University who placed second at 42-feet, 11 1/4-inches. Freshman James Wilson (Elizabethtown, Pa./Ephrata) came in second in the 55 meters with a time of 6.61 seconds, 0.02 seconds ahead of Cohick who was third.

In the weight throw, junior Nate Reider (York, Pa./Dallastown) took first-place with a toss of 52-feet, 11-inches. Junior James Dart (Havertown, Pa./Havertown Township) took second-place with a toss of 48-feet, 5-inches, just two inches ahead of senior Mark Rudderow (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) who came in third.

Dart finished first in the shot put with a mark of 50-feet, 1/2-inches while junior David Green (Waynesboro, Pa./South Western) grabbed third, followed by sophomore Mark Anderson (Nanty Glo, Pa./Central Cambria) and Reider.

Freshman Anthony Hankerson (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) finished first in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.00 seconds, 0.21 seconds ahead of Robert Chain of Dickinson. In the pole vault, sophomore Troy Litten (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) took home first-place by clearing 14-feet, 6-inches.

The Red Raiders' 4x400-meter relay team also placed first with a time of 3:32.30.

Shippensburg will not return to action until Saturday, January 21, when the team travels to College Park, Maryland for the Maryland Invitational.
