Red Raiders Dominate DuCharme Invitational En Route to First-Place Team Finish

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg men’s indoor track and field team dominated the indoor track at Dickinson Friday night en route to earning a first-place team finish with a score of 249 points at the DuCharme Invitational. A total of six first-place finishes and nine second-place finishes help guide Shippensburg to the team victory.

The Red Raiders earned victories in several sprints with senior Bernie Richards (York Haven/Northeastern York) taking home first-place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.85 seconds and sophomore Joe Wagner (Biglerville/Biglerville) winning the 600-meter dash in 1:25.66.

Freshman Zach Epple (Altoona/Altoona) took second-place in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:02.14 while sophomore Sean Cohick (Newville/Big Spring) took second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.4 seconds.

Over longer distances, senior Allen Hanslovan (Morisdale/West Branch) won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:46.91 and freshman Josh Neyhart (Kutztown/Kutztown) took fourth-place in 8:58.17.

Junior Dan Robinson (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) won the 55-meter hurdles in 7.86 seconds, while Richards finished just one-hundredth of a second behind in second place.

The Red Raider throwers earned the top six finishes in the weight throw led by senior Nate Reider (York/Dallastown) who won the event with a throw of 16.33 meters.
Junior Mark Anderson (Nanty Glo/Central Cambria), senior David Green (Waynesboro/South Western), junior Justin Ackerman (Broomal/Marple Newton), sophomore Shaun Minnich (Churchville/Council Rock South) and freshman Justin Kraft (Greetown/Wallenpaupack) rounded out the top six.

In the shot put, Shippensburg throwers placed two through six with Minnich recording the longest throw of the group with a heave of 49-feet, 1-inch.

Shippensburg’s 'A' squad also won the 400-meter relay to cap off a high-scoring day for the Red Raiders.

Shippensburg will next return to action on Saturday, January 20 in the Bucknell Heptagonal.
