Men's Track and Field Adds 31 Student-Athletes for 2007-08 Season

Aug. 22, 2007

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg men's track and field coach Dave Osanitsch has announced the addition of 31 student-athletes to the Red Raider program for the 2007-08 season. The program has also added 28 student-athletes to the Lady Raider program.

"In addition to adding quality individuals that are accomplished as athletes, they are also excellent students and good people off the track," said Osanitsch.

"For the men's recruting class, we went for throws and distance athletes which was an area of need. We were succesful and should definitely be back in the hunt for a conference championship."

Shippensburg finished second at both the indoor and outdoor PSAC championships a year ago while qualifying two athletes for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in seniors Nate Reider (York/Dallastown) and Bernie Richards (York Haven/Northeastern York). Reider became the fifth national champion in team history and first since 1992 after winning the javelin.
