Track and Field Begins Competition at Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Just a handful of competitors from the Shippensburg
men’s and women’s track and field teams were in action on the
first day of the Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted at Bucknell.
The best showing for the men in the distance events came from senior Allen
Hanslovan (Morrisdale/West Branch) who finished fifth was in the 3,000-meter
steeplechase, clocking in at 9:25.20. Senior Stephen LoBianco (Dover/Northeastern
York) took 10th in 9:39.80.
In the field events, freshman Mike Tomasco (Upper Darby/Monsignor
Bonner) finished third in the long jump with a leap of 6.73 meters.
Sophomore Sean Cohick (Newville/Big Spring) placed 13th with a distance of
6.44 meters.
Sophomore David Green (Waynesboro/South Western) placed eighth in the hammer
throw with a distance of 49.91 meters while senior teammate and NCAA Division
II indoor championship qualifier Nate Reider (York/Dallastown) posted a mark
of 45.24 meters to finish 14th.
In the javelin, freshmen Christian D’Annibale (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) and Sean
Shepardson (Telford/Souderton) were 11th and 12th, clearing distances
of 51.05 and 49.77 meters, respectively.
For the women, only two Lady Raiders were in action with senior Stacey
Wilcher (Harleysville/Souderton) placing 11th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20
meters while senior Megan Schweighofer (Tyler Hill/Honesdale) took fifth
in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.57 meters.
Day two of competition at the Bison Outdoor Classic begins Saturday morning
at 9:00 a.m.
