Red Raiders Earn 20 Top 10 finishes at Terrapin Invitational, Highlighted By Shull and James

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Shippensburg men's track and field
team recorded 20 Top 10 finishes at the 2007 Maryland Terrapin Invitational,
highlighted
by strong performances from junior Jarrod Shull (Landisburg/West
Perry) and
sophomore Jamal James (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin).
James finished in third place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.81,
his fastest time of the outdoor season far. Meanwhile, in other sprints,
sophomore Joe Wagner (Biglerville/Biglerville) took eighth place in the 400-meter
dash with a time of 49.57 seconds, while freshman Josh Neyhart (Kutztown/Kutztown) took 10th place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.14.
In the javelin throw, Shull finished in second place with a throw of 192-03,
while freshman Sean Shepardson (Telford/Souderton) took seventh place with
a throw of 175-07.
Shippensburg continues to dominate throwing events, as three athletes finished
in the Top 10 in the shot put. Junior Mark Anderson (Nanty Glo/Central
Cambria) finished in fifth place with a shot put of 49-09, his farthest throw thus
far, while sophomore Shaun Minnich (Churchville/Council Rock South) finished
in seventh place with a throw of 48-05.50. Sophomore David Green (Waynesboro/South
Western) finished in eighth place with a shot put of 47-03.50.
In the discus throw, Green finished in ninth place with a throw of 142-03,
while Shull finished in 10th place and freshman Justin Kraft (Greetown/Wallenpaupack) took 11th place. Green finished in fifth place in the hammer throw with a
throw of 163-11, while Anderson finished in eighth and senior Nate
Reider (York/Dallastown) took tenth place.
Senior Bernie Richards (York Haven/Northeastern York) posted another strong
performance in the hurdles, finishing in fourth place in the 400-meter hurdles
with a time of 54.87 seconds. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, two Red Raiders
finished in the Top 5, as senior Allen Hanslovan (Morisdale/West
Branch) took 4th place with a time of 9:44.52, while Steve Lobianco (Dover/Northeastern
York) took 5th place with a time of 9:45.30, his fastest time of the outdoor
season.
Freshman Don Graybill (Ephrata/Cocalico) took fourth place
in the men's pole vault with a vault of 14-01.25, while freshman Mike Tomasco
(Upper Darby/Monsignor Bonner) finished seventh in the long jump with a jump of 20-10.50 and fellow
freshman Mike Edwards (Bethlehem/Liberty) finished in 10th place with a jump
of 20-05.75.
The relay teams performed well on Saturday for Shippensburg, as the 400-meter
team of Richards, Wagner, freshman Ken Kull (Glenn Mills/Penncrest) and junior
Eric Baker (Montoursville/Montoursville) took second with a time of 3:20.71.
The 100 meter relay team of James, Richards, Ryan Koppenheffer (Harrisburg/Central
Dauphin) and Sean Cohick (Newville/Big Spring) took fourth place with a time
of 43.01 seconds.
The men's track team returns to action next Saturday, April 7 when
the team travels to Millersville University for the PSAC East Outdoor Challenge.
