SU Men's Track In Fourth Place After Day One of PSAC Indoor Championships

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The
Shippensburg University men's indoor track and field team is in fourth
place after Day One of competition at the 2007 PSAC Indoor Championships
being held on the campus of East Stroudsburg University. The Red Raiders
have accumulated a total of 33 points, trailing first-place Lock Haven
by 18 points.
The major highlight for Shippensburg was senior Nathan Reider (York/Dallastown),
who won the weight throw with a heave of 61-feet 6.75-inches that gave Shippensburg
10 team points. Reider's throw shattered the previous best mark in the PSAC
this season by more than two whole feet, a mark that was set by Reider at
the PSAC East Challenge. The Red Raiders dominated the event and totaled
20 points, as sophomore David Green (Waynesboro/South Western) took home
third place, junior Justin Ackerman (Broomal/Marple Newton) earned sixth
place, and sophomore Shaun Minnich (Churchville/Council Rock South) finished
in eight place.
Also for Shippensburg, the 800-meter relay team finished in second place
with a time of 7:55.77 that gave the Red Raiders a total of eight points.
The distance medley team took fourth place with a time of 10:16.50 that gave
the Red Raiders five team points.
In qualifying action, sophomore Jamal James (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) qualified with the top time for the 55-meter dash as well as the 200-meter
dash. James recorded a time of 6.50 seconds in the 55 and a time of 22.24
seconds in the 200, and the latter proved to be his fastest time of the season.
Senior Bernie Richards (York Haven/Northeastern York) finished in fourth
place with a time of 7.73 seconds,
The final day of competition concludes Sunday afternoon inside the Koehler
Field House at East Stroudsburg University.
