James Records Conference-Leading Performance in 200-Meter Dash at Kent State Tune Up
Feb. 17, 2007
KENT, Ohio - Sophomore Jamal James (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) recorded the fastest time in the 200-meter dash so far this season by a track athlete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), finishing in 21.99 seconds at the Kent State Tune Up and earning third place for the event.
James, who was bested
only by two Division I runners, had recorded a previous season-best time
of 22.49 seconds back on January 26, and flew past the previous conference-best
time of 22.19 seconds that was set by Cheyney's Cyrus Wesley at the Ursinus
Classic in December 2006.
James recorded another Top 5 finish Saturday, finishing fifth in the 55-meter
dash with a time of 6.55 seconds that was just eight one-hundredths of
a second behind his season-best time of 6.47 seconds set at the Bucknell
Bison
Opener back in December 2006.
Meanwhile, sophomore Sean Cohick (Newville/Big Spring) recorded an impressive
long jump of 6.61 meters to finish fifth in that event, while freshman
Mike Edwards (Bethlehem/Liberty) finished in a tie for 10th place with
California
(Pa.) University wide receiver Marc Huddleston, as both recorded jumps
of 6.27 meters.
The Red Raider indoor track and field team will next be in action at the
PSAC Championships, which begin Friday and last through Saturday on the
campus of East Stroudsburg University.
