Nate Reider Named PSAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Feb. 13, 2007

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg men's track and field senior Nate Reider (York/Dallastown) was named PSAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, marking the second-straight week that a Red Raider has earned the award. It is the first career honor for Reider.

On Saturday at the PSAC East Challenge, Reider earned first-place in the weight throw with a mark of 59-feet, 9-inches. He had already provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships in March with a throw of 56-4 at the Bison Open & Multi, but Saturday's mark was good enough for the 12th-best throw in Division II this season.

Reider's first-place performance was one of six for the Red Raiders as the team took first-place by a margin of 81.5 points ahead of East Stroudsburg.

Last week, senior Mark Anderson (Nanty Glo/Central Cambria) was named PSAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week efforts at the Dick DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg.

The Shippensburg men's and women's track and field teams return to action at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna on Friday.
