Red Raiders Place 13 in Top Five at Bucknell Bison Open

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University men’s track team placed 13 athletes in the top five of their respective events at the Bison Open at Bucknell University on Saturday. Highlighting the afternoon were victories by sophomore Jamal James (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) in the 200-meter dash and a victory by senior Kenrick Marsh (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) in the 500-meter dash.

Joining James in the 200-meter dash was junior Ryan Koppenheffer (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and freshman Sean Cohick (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), who finished in second and third, respectively.

Senior John Somers (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) won the one-mile run in a time of 4:22.60 and he also took top prize in the 1,000-meter run.

Junior Richard Hansloven (Morisdale, Pa./West Branch) came away with a win in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:56.65 and he also raced to first-place first in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:45.82.

Freshman Jonathan Hughes (Malver, Pa./Great Valley) also turned in a solid day, placing fourth in the mile and fourth in the 1,000-meter run.

In the 3,000 meters, Shippensburg placed four in the top-10, and placed three in the top six in
the 1,000-meter run.

The Red Raiders return to action on Friday, February 4 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
