Wilson, James Qualify 1-2 in 200 Meters on Day One at Bison Open & Multi

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg University men's track and field seniors Jamal James (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) and James Wilson (Ephrata/Ephrata) qualified 1-2 for tomorrow’s 200-meter dash to highlight the first day of competition at the Bison Open & Multi on Friday evening at Bucknell University.

James completed the leg in 22.38 seconds while Wilson finished in 22.64 seconds.

The men’s distance medley relay team of junior Dillon Gracey (Mercersburg/James Buchanan), freshman Ryan Boyer (Shamokin/Southern Columbia), sophomore Jeremy Brady (Heidelberg AFB/Heidelberg American) and junior Stephen Thompson (Northumberland/Shikellamy) finished in fourth place with a time of 10:37.57.

In the shot put, junior Shaun Minnich (Churchville/Council Rock South) finished in fifth place with a heave of 49' 0.75" while freshman Steve D’Arcy (Hanover, N.J./East Hanover) took sixth place with a throw of 47-feet, 3.75 inches.

Freshman Sean Stetler (Warrington/Central Bucks South) finished ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:35.43, while freshmen Brandon Boyer (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and Jake Sitler (Wrightsville/York Catholic) also earned top-15 finishes.

Meanwhile, Shippensburg assistant coach Steve Spence, 45, competed in the event and finished in 23rd place, coasting to a time of 16:05.53.

The men’s indoor track and field team will finish competition tomorrow at the Bison Open & Multi beginning at 10:00 a.m.
