SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg women's basketball team is joining the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in its "Think Pink" initiative in an effort to promote the fight against breast cancer.
All fans at the men's and women's doubleheader against The Rock on Saturday, January 27 at Heiges Field House are encouraged to join the coaches and staff in wearing pink. The women's game starts at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men's game at approximately 3:00 p.m.
Shippensburg has also partnered with the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) who will have an information table providing material about the PBCC and its programs during both games.
Through "Think Pink," the WBCA has encouraged its membership, all coaching staffs and game day support staffs to help unify the women’s basketball world in a show of support for all coaches in its profession who are battling cancer throughout the weekend of January 26-28.
"All coaches have been asked to wear pink on the bench and to promote this weekend with their players and fans, joining together to educate, create awareness and motivate everyone to learn about cancer prevention," said Summer McKesson, Manager of Communications for the WBCA.
"The WBCA will continue to build on making this a joint venture every year nationally."
