Blue Scores Four Runs in the Seventh to Force Tie in Game Two of Fall World Series

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Blue team scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in game two of the Shippensburg baseball Fall World Series to salvage a tie from the White team, 4-4 on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue team now leads the five-game series, 1-0-1. The Red Raiders will play all five games regardless of win total. Game three will be Thursday, October 18 at 3:30 p.m., followed by game four on Sunday, October 21 at 11:00 a.m., and game five on Tuesday, October 23 at 3:30 p.m.

The White team jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning, then tagged on two more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Senior Eric Dezell (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) knocked in two runs and junior Matt Wright (McClure/Mid-West) pitched a near-perfect three innings, giving up only one hit while striking out five.

In two seasons with the Red Raiders, Wright has been named as an All-American, earned five all-region first team selections and has been a two-time All-PSAC Western Division First Team selection. He has also earned two pitcher of the year awards in addition to being named PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Year in 2006.

Despite not being able to get a hit against Wright, the Blue team was able to come from behind by putting up four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Senior Justin Garber (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) went 2-for-4 with a triple and one RBI and junior Andrew Burke (Fayetteville/Chambersburg) was 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Game three will take place at Fairchild Field on Thursday, October 18. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
