SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University baseball team totaled 18 runs and 20 hits Friday afternoon in a doubleheader sweep against Lock Haven University, 3-0 and 15-6, at Fairchild Field. The Red Raiders' 15 runs in game two were a season-high.

In the first game, Shippensburg scored all the runs it needed in the third inning when senior Chad Stecker (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) and senior Ryan Miscik (Mt. Pleasant, Pa./Mt. Pleasant) scored when sophomore Jared Boger (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) reached on a Lock Haven error.

Boger scored the team's final run in the sixth on a RBI-walk with the bases loaded by junior Scott Goss (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop).

In game two, the Red Raiders scored at least one run in five out of six innings, sending 10 batters to the plate in both the bottom of the second and third. After three innings, the Bald Eagles (11-14, 1-5 PSAC West) trailed 9-1.

As a team, Shippensburg batted .517 (15-for-29), totaling 12 RBI and seven walks. The Red Raiders also went 9-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

Goss and junior Nick Erdman (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) each went 3-for-3 in the game with Goss totaling three RBI and Erdman two, while Miscik was 2-for-2 with two triples and two runs. Sophomore Frank D'Agostino (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) picked up his team-leading fifth win of the season, going six innings, scattering six hits and allowing four runs while striking out eight.

With Shippensburg leading 15-4 heading into the top of the seventh, junior Jeremy Hess (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), who normally plays left field and is a designated hitter for the team, made his first career pitching appearance, facing eight batters. He retired the first two batters he faced before allowing two earned runs and four hits.
