Shippensburg’s Garber Named PSAC West Player of the Week

Apr. 2, 2007

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday that Shippensburg junior centerfielder Justin Garber (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) was named PSAC Western Division Player of the Week. It is the first weekly PSAC honor of his career, and the first for any Shippensburg player this season.

Garber, an All-PSAC Western Division First Team selection in 2006, led Shippensburg to six wins in seven games last week, including a win over No. 19-ranked West Chester and three over Clarion to start PSAC Western Division play.

In seven games, Garber went 11-for-24, recording a hit in six of seven games, while reaching base in all seven. He also led the team with eight runs scored, drove in six runs and was 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts.

He tallied a career-high four hits, scored once and drove in a run against West Chester on Mar. 28. He also went 3-for-4 with three runs scored versus Clarion on Mar. 31.

Shippensburg have won eight of their last nine games and are now 11-11 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC West. The team returns to action on Tuesday, Apr. 2 when it takes on Shepherd in a nine-inning contest at Fairchild Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
