Shippensburg’s Garber Named PSAC West Player of the Week

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday that Shippensburg junior centerfielder
Justin Garber (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) was named PSAC Western Division
Player of the Week. It is the first weekly PSAC honor of his career, and
the first
for
any
Shippensburg
player this season.
Garber, an All-PSAC Western Division First Team selection in 2006, led
Shippensburg to six wins in seven games last week, including a win over
No. 19-ranked West Chester and three over Clarion to start PSAC Western
Division play.
In seven games, Garber went 11-for-24, recording a hit in six of seven
games, while reaching base in all seven. He also led the team with eight
runs scored, drove in six runs and was 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts.
He tallied a career-high four hits, scored once and drove in a run against
West Chester on Mar. 28. He also went 3-for-4 with three runs scored versus
Clarion on Mar. 31.
Shippensburg have won eight of their last nine games and are now 11-11
overall and 3-1 in the PSAC West. The team returns to action on Tuesday,
Apr. 2 when it takes on Shepherd in a nine-inning contest at Fairchild
Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
