Justin Garber, Tim Freshour Receive PSAC Baseball Player of the Week Accolades

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Two days after finishing a weekend series with the No. 11-ranked Georgia College and State Bobcats and taking two out of three games, senior Justin Garber (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) was named PSAC Western Division Baseball Player of the Week while junior Tim Freshour (Johnstown/Richland) was chosen as the PSAC Western Division Pitcher of the Week.
The selections are the first of the 2008 baseball season by the conference.
Through 10 games this season, Garber leads the team with a .452 batting average and has extended his hitting streak to 12 games. The Red Raider leadoff man has totaled 19 hits, one double, one home run and ranks second on the team in RBI with six.
Garber also leads the team in runs with 11 and stolen bases with five while posting a .489 on-base percentage. He is one of only four players to have started in all 10 games this season and has totaled eight multi-hit games this season, including a 3-for-3 performance with two runs in a 5-1 victory at No. 11 Georgia College & State on Saturday.
On the mound, Freshour has had a hand in two of Shippensburg's three victories so far this spring, totaling a 2-1 record with a 4.00 ERA in three starts. He leads the team with 18.0 innings pitched with both of his victories coming in complete game efforts.
Freshour has allowed just eight earned runs in three starts, scattering 21 hits over 18.0 innings while striking out 10. In a 14-4 victory at Anderson (S.C.) on February 23, Freshour allowed just two earned runs in 7.0 innings while striking out five.
In a 5-1 victory over No. 11 Georgia College & State on Saturday, he limited the Bobcats, who are averaging seven runs per game, to just one run over 7.0 innings while holding them to five hits and striking out five.
Shippensburg returns to action on Friday, March 7 with a doubleheader against Northwood beginning at 8:45 AM at the Lawnwood Complex in Ft. Pierce, FL.
