Cumberland Valley High School Natatorium
Cumberland
Valley High School, located in Mechanicsburg, will serve as the host site
for the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
(PSAC) Swimming Championships. This year will mark the 50th year of the
men’s championships and the 33rd year of the women’s championships.
The Cumberland Valley School District opened its new pool to the public on June 9, 2003. The new natatorium pool, designed in association with Ray Group Architects, is a fully competitive eight-lane, 40-meter competitive/instructional pool divided by a moveable bulkhead which allows for multiple configurations required for different aquatic events.
The adjustable bulkhead at 25 yards allows competition in the deep area and instruction at the shallow end of the pool. A configuration for 25-yard or 25-meter swimming lanes with a depth of 10 to 13 feet and a warm-up/warm-down area opposite the competition pool is also possible.
A fully integrated and automatic Colorado 5
timing system with scoreboard and display systems are included as well
that are used with Hy-Tek meet management software.
The facility is also capable of hosting one-meter competitive diving and water polo. The diving area has two, one-meter diving boards. Spectator seating for a minimum of 400 is available in the upper observation area and there are eight under water speakers and 12 air speakers with cassette or CD capabilities.
